Differences Between Light Jets and Very Light Jets
The main difference between light jets and very light jets is their size. While they are both smaller large and even mid-size jets, very light jets are smaller than light jets.
Because they are smaller, very light jets have a lower passenger capacity than light jets. Most very light jets can accommodate two to four passengers, whereas light jets can typically accommodate six to eight passengers.
Light jets have a slightly longer range than very light jets. The maximum range for most light jets is 1,500 nautical miles, but many light jets can fly up to 2,000 nautical miles.
Cruise speeds also vary between light jets and very light jets. Light jets have a cruise speed of about 420 knots, whereas very light jets have a slower cruise speed of about 330 to 370 knots. As a result, flight times for very light jets are typically longer than those for light jets.
Both types of jets are very airport-accessible. With that said, very light jets can operate on shorter runways. They weigh less than light jets (hence the name). And because of their lightweight characteristics, very light jets can take off from and land on very short runways. Many very light jets only require 3,000 feet of runway space, whereas light jets may require up to 4,000 feet of runway space.
