Wing Nuts
Wing nuts have two flat "wings" so they can be tightened and removed by hand without tools. They're used where an assembly is opened often and finger tightness is enough to hold it. Monroe Aerospace stocks AN350 wing nuts, MS35425 coarse-thread wing nuts, and MS35426 fine-thread wing nuts, including drilled versions that accept safety wire. Stainless wing nuts are also available.
AN350 wing nuts are made for assemblies that are removed often and only need finger tightness. See other non-self-locking options in Monroe's nut guide. For access panels that are opened regularly, quarter-turn fasteners are another tool-free option.
