Jam Nuts

Jam Nuts

Jam nuts, also called check nuts, are thin hex nuts that are tightened against another nut or part to lock it in place. They're commonly used on threaded rod ends, set screws, and adjustable linkages, where a full-height locknut won't fit or the assembly needs to be adjusted later. Monroe Aerospace stocks AN316 check nuts in right-hand (R) and left-hand (L) threads, including AN316C stainless versions, NAS509 jam nuts, and NAS1423 drilled jam nuts that accept safety wire.

The AN316 check nut is used to lock plain nuts, set screws, and threaded rod ends in place. Read more about check and jam nuts. If you also need the primary nut, shop our plain hex nuts.
